SMARTFENSE turns ten with 63 people and a dedicated lead in eight markets

SMARTFENSE closed August 2026 with 63 people on its team, after 21 hires over twelve months. Twelve of them joined the sales organisation and gave Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Spain, Italy and the Caribbean and Central America region a lead of their own.

Five minutes in León

In October 2017 our CEO, Mauro Graziosi, flew from Argentina to León to sum up SMARTFENSE in under five minutes. That was the time allowed. We were a company barely a year old, we were competing against 35 other startups and we ended up among the ten selected for INCIBE’s Cybersecurity Ventures accelerator programme, the only one of the ten coming from outside Spain.

Almost a decade later, the team behind that platform has reached 63 people, spread across Latin America and Europe, and supports organisations in more than 25 countries.

The year the map filled up with names

Of the 21 hires over the last twelve months, 12 joined the sales organisation. It is the most visible change of the period, and the result is eight markets with one person in charge of each. These are the markets where we have someone dedicated, not the total number of countries we work in, which is over 25.

Joining as Territory Sales Manager were Aníbal Mendoza for Peru and Ecuador in April 2026, Frank Varela for the Caribbean and Central America in April, working from Mexico and within the channel sales team, Juan Sebastián Berón for Colombia in July, Erick Pérez for Chile in July and Héctor Varela for Mexico in August.

Joining as Account Executive were Borja Ayerdi for the Spanish market in April, Lissette Carranza for LATAM in May and Victorino Velázquez for the Mexican and Central American corporate market in June.

Above that map came three management hires: Pablo Arena as Business Development & RevOps Manager in September 2025, Ezequiel Azzarini as Sales Development Director in January 2026, leading channel sales and Customer Success, and Salomé Carpio as Global Head of Sales for market development in February.

Italy, through three doors at once

Italy was the market that grew deepest, with three profiles in three distinct roles. Andrea Sona came in on content adapted to the local context in April 2026, after twenty years living and working in that market. Valerio Magistri joined sales prospecting in July and Jonathan Borza technical support for Italy and Spain in August.

Content, legal and the people behind it

The content area added three people, its own leadership among them. Tatiana Stacul joined in December 2025 and is today Behaviour and Human Risk Specialist, with a background in psychology and behavioural science, an unusual profile for a cybersecurity company and one that follows from what the platform actually does, which is work on people’s habits. Carla Caggiano stepped in as Chief Content Officer in March 2026 and Andrea Sona joined in April. In September 2026 Carla also took on the Consultancy area, previously called Value Added Service and renamed after what customers actually receive.

Legal grew for the first time with a role of its own. Marcelo Temperini joined as Senior Legal Counsel in January 2026, a doctor of law specialising in IT law and personal data protection, a direct reinforcement on the regulatory front that now shapes much of the conversation with our customers.

Marketing added Mariana Mago as Events Manager in August 2026 and administration added Nora Arguello in February. And human resources, the area that made most of the above possible, added Emilia Palá as Head of People & Culture in April and Gabriela Ferrero as Senior Talent Acquisition Partner in February.

What comes next

Nine years and a great many conversations separate that five-minute pitch from a team that now works out of Argentina, Spain, Italy, Mexico and Colombia. The office SMARTFENSE keeps in Spain is in León, the same city where Mauro walked onto that stage.

The 21 people who joined this year joined something that was already standing. The first customers, the content now published in more than 30 languages, the certifications that opened the Spanish public sector to us and a platform serving more than half a million users are the work of the team that was already here, built year after year and without the visibility a new hire gets. Every name in this article rests on that work.

To those who have been holding it up for years, and to those who joined this one, thank you.
