SMARTFENSE will sponsor the 4th ISACA Costa Rica Cybersecurity Conference

SMARTFENSE will sponsor the 4th Cybersecurity Conference of the ISACA Costa Rica Chapter, on 20 October 2026 at the Hotel Radisson in San José. Frank Varela, Territory Sales Manager for the Caribbean and Central America, will give the talk «Resiliencia desde adentro: el ADN de la cultura cibersegura» (Resilience from within) at 2:05 p.m.

The ISACA Costa Rica Chapter will hold its 4th Cybersecurity Conference on 20 October 2026 at the Hotel Radisson in San José. The conference will bring together technology, audit and information security professionals under the theme «Cybersecurity in the age of AI» and will award 8 CPE hours. SMARTFENSE is one of the sponsors.

The talk

At 2:05 p.m., Frank Varela will present «Resiliencia desde adentro: el ADN de la cultura cibersegura» (Resilience from within: the DNA of a cyber-secure culture). The talk will start from a finding in the Verizon 2025 Data Breach Investigations Report: six in ten breaches analyzed involved a person’s error, manipulation or misuse. It will cover four parts:

  • The human factor: what the data say about why people click, and why phishing and social engineering target fast, intuitive thinking.
  • The path: how to move from one-off awareness to a culture that sustains itself, with a five-stage maturity model and the time each stage takes.
  • The strategy: the role of leadership, behavioral psychology applied to security and program governance, with metrics that measure behavior.
  • The trends: artificial intelligence as a new area of human risk, from unauthorized use of generative AI with corporate data to autonomous agents without oversight.
